LAUNCH EVENT
The International Meeting on Developments
in Materials, Processes and Applications of Nanotechnology
(MPA) served as a platform to officially launch the
Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to the broad
international community.
EVENTS FOR 2007
Conferences organised, sponsored
and/or supported by SNN:
2nd International Conference on Surfaces, Coatings
and Nanostructured Materials (NanoSMat 2007)
® - 9-11 July, Algavre, Portugal.
NanoSMat is a biannual event of knowledge exchange
and interactive platform for researchers and engineers
from industry, research laboratories and academia.
NanoSMat 2007 is the second of this series. Following
its success as NanoSMat-2005,
NanoSMat 2007 will bring together state-of-the-art developments
on all aspects related to the processing, characterization
and applications of surfaces, coatings and novel nanostructured
materials.
A major aspect of the conference is to foster close
collaborations among scientists, engineers, researchers
and industrialists thus providing an opportunity to
create links for future developments. The conference
will provide ample opportunity for the conference delegates
to network in a friendly and supportive environment.
NanoSMat07 will host an exhibition and offer several
short educational courses relating to nanostructured
materials, nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Abstract submision deadline – 30 March 2007
International Conference on Advanced Computational
Engineering and Experimenting (ACE-X) 12-13
July 2007, Portugal
ACE-X provides a unique opportunity to exchange information,
present the latest results as well as assess the relevant
issues on computational and experimental research.

EVENTS FOR 2008
2nd International Meeting on Developments in
Materials, Processes and Applications of Nanotechnology
(MPA-2008), 7-8 January 2008, Robinson College,
Cambridge University, UK
MPA
2008 to be held at the Robinson College, Cambridge,
UK will be the second event of the MPA conference series.
The first MPA-2007,
held at the University of Ulster, UK officially launched
the Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to the
international community.
After its success as MPA-2007, MPA-2008 aims to attract
a balanced portion of delegates from academia, industry
and research institutions and laboratories involved
with R&D work. In doing so, the conference will
provide a binding platform for academics and industrialists
to network together, exchange ideas, provide new information
and give new insights into overcoming the current challenges
facing the academics and the industrialists relating
to nanomaterials and the exploitation of their application
areas
MPA 2008 will feature:
* Plenary lectures: There will be
two prominent speakers who would give the plenary talks
* Invited talks: 4 academics and 4
invited people from industry will deliver talks based
on nanoscience and nanotechnology
* Posters: There will be a poster session
held during one afternoon. We are looking to give out
prizes for the best poster presentations
* Oral contributions: People from academia
and those from industry or those doing industrial work
will be given the opportunity to give short 10-15 minute
presentations on their most recent work
* Exhibition: Companies will have the
opportunity to exhibit during this event which will
attract up to 250 people from all over the world
* Interactive discussion forum: The
conference will end with an interactive open discussion
forum consisting of academics and industrialists all
under one roof discussing issues relating to nanoscience
and nanotechnology
MPA-2008 topics:
1. Nanocoatings
2. Nanoparticles/Nanowires/Nanotubes
3. Nanodevices
4. Nanofabrication
5. Nanomanufacturing
